Nickel metal prices are on the rise and I have many kilos of pre Euro Dutch Guilders (Gulden) 25 Cents and 10 cents and French 1 and 2 Francs.

These are not reedemable aginst the Euro and they are not collectable, Krause says they are made of nickel.

Anyone know the actual nickel content so I am armed with some knowledge before I visit the smelters.

    Thanks.:)

Hi Mickey! You think the numismatic value of the coins are lower than the melt value? May be you could check with the smelters and also list it for auction on Ebay with a reserve?

They are of no numismatic value whatsoever, Nickel is x4 the price of copper, it would not be viable to
sell them on eBay because ot the weight for shipping.
I just needed some percentage figures so the I don`t get ripped off at the smelters.

The Dutch pre-euro coins are pure nickel indeed, so a 10 ct piece is 1.5 g Ni while the 25 ct is 3.0 g. As for the French pieces, they have a weight of 6.0 g (1 fr) and 7.5 g (2 fr), again pure nickel ...
