For some reason I took a liking for this one. It would be nice IMHO to put a set like this together. I figure it would be harder than a 65 or 66 set.
i like the look of a heavily circulated coin ... it smacks of romance and times gone by (then again I'm wierd) plus sometimes the black on the coin really brings out the design
There are some pretty cool "low ball" registry sets I've seen on the pcgs site...you should check them out sometime if you get a chance.
I think putting together a set in F-VF would be an excellent challenge. The tough dates would be 1921 (already have it), 1928, and 1934-S. But those are not out of reach in those grades. I hope you go for it!
Agreed. Circulation patina can bring out the contrast, which compensates for the weakly struck legends. OP is a case in point. Since even an MS 1921 would typically show weak strike in the hair, a worn coin isn't that far behind details-wise.
As of now I have the 1921 F15 NGC, 1928 NGC VG10, 1934-S PCGS F15 plus some others that are raw, which I'll just self slab.
Nice new additions. So how many coins did you have to look at to find those two more examples? I would think quite a few.
