So it seems from an article in the newest edition of Numismatic News that the BEP has put an indefinite hold on the release of the new $100's due to production problems due to the added security of the notes. This brings to my mind a question: Is anyone planning on trying to acquire new ChCu or higher examples of this note when it is released? To start, I know I am. :thumb:
If I had a hundred dollars to spare I would. lol I actually like the design they have on this one (unlike the 20 and the 5). I want to know what that hologram is going to look like in hand though. And what its made out of.
I hope to find a GEM example of the Atlanta Star printed in February of this year. So far, it's the shortest star run (128,000) but may end up being some of the notes they will have to destroy.
I'm not a conspiricist (sp?) by any means but it is odd that they are having "production problems." And it is cool that that particular part of the Declaration ended up right there.
Yes. I will be looking to acquire one for my district collection. Also, here is a related thread from earlier this month: New U.S. $100 Bill Issuance To Be Delayed And here is the Federal Reserve Press Release about the delay from 10/01/2010
Thanks krispy, you're always a wealth of knowledge on these things and their locations in the www! SteveInTampa, I hope that they don't destroy any of those notes, but speculation is running amok about what they will be doing with these "error" notes and their replacements. I hope to either cherrypick a nice serial number from a new strap, or be able to get a star (or two) once they come out. Either way, I really like the new design and glad to see others that do as well.
