My grandfather and I were looking through his safe, and we found this coin that looks to be Chinese. It has the same diameter as a penny. Any help would be greatly appriciated. I had to post the pictures on a third party website; I got a new 14MP digital camera, and the file size is way too large to have posted on the website http://img217.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=pa170018.jpg
Ah, thanks! The last coin I had I thought was Japanese was actually Chinese, and I thought that this coin was Chinese, but it was really Japanese. I'm still getting myself familiar with international currency. Thanks for all of the help, manymore!
The chrysanthemum symbol is a dead giveaway that a coin is Japanese. Yours is KM#64 (dated Showa 19 - 1944); 2.4g tin-zinc, dated on the side you didn't post. The value is about 20-50 cents. BTW, cropping out all the acres of background dramatically reduces the size of a picture file.
