So, This was won in a raffle a while back and I was wondering the production numbers, approximate grade, and value. I don't have a world coin book so, I have no clue.

I know it is worth at least spot but, what is it worth as a coin?

It's similar to the US ASE ... it is denominated, but wouldn't ever circulate. Its denomination is £2, and contains an ounce of silver. The fractions are valued as follows:

    Britannia .... 1oz ... £2
    .... ½oz ... £1
    .... ¼oz ... 50
    1/10oz ... 20p

The gold Britannias come in the same weights and are denominated thus:

    1oz ... £100
    ½oz ... £50
    ¼oz ... £25
    1/10oz ... £10

Its a silver bullion round known as a "Britannia" like you have your ASE`s

It has a £2 denomination so it can be classed as a coin and it is One Ounce of Fine Silver.

It is described as a "Helmeted figure of Britannia holding a trident and a shield with a lion in the background"

It would be graded under British grading terms as "BU" Brilliant Uncirculated.

    Spink says 44,816 issued.

They are a beautiful series with a different design issued each year.

Their value depends on the silver bullion prices at the time although they seem to sell on eBay for between £20 ($31) and £30 ($47)

Why not collect the whole series from 1998 upto 2010.

Now I will go find photographs of mine.

Very nice! I hadn't kept up with the design changes (I did until about 2005, knowing that even years were one type, odd another).

    I have the 2001, 2002 and 2003 myself.

    Geekman,

The grade is BU - they come in plastic sheeting, so if yours is still therein, it'd still be BU. In US nomenclature, it'd be MS-6x, where x is most likely 5 - 9 :)

    Thanks Andyscouse,

I normally collect old British, American and world coins but I have these as an exception.

My favorite is the latest 2010, I am going to buy the one with Britannia in gold
