    Idea #30

Start with any previous contest idea in this thread, hold that contest and determine a winner, BUT ask the winner to hold a follow up contest swapping something of their own for the item they win. This will take on a rolling effect with the number of contestants who play and who join into future contests later to diversify the pool of players. Something will constantly be changing hands from one person to the next but only determined by contest wins. Items offered up should have a very nominal value and not require any significant prize be shared, just passing along a long give-and-take prize. This contest thread could be consulted for ideas so contestants needn't create ideas from scratch.

Not at all. Just be more thoughtful in your ideas. Some of the things you are posting are just not really in the spirit of the contest.

I thought a lot of your stuff was funny, just not original contest idea wise. :smile

MPC notes used imaginary portraits on the face of many Series. Some of the portraits were just identified as 'portrait of a woman' or 'liberty' but a few had actual names, like a woman's first name for a given Series vignette. Ask members to identify some of the known named women in vignettes on those MPC notes for which we 'know' a name -- even though the portrait may be a fictional character but was named by the engraver who created it.

Old Series of U.S. notes often had very complex and detailed vignettes with many figures depicted on them, such as" The Baptism of Pocahontas, Embarkation of the Pilgrims, Signing of the Declaration of Independence, George Washington Resigning his Commission... Ask members to search for a note based on give a certain number of figures the contest holder determines a particular vignette has for them to find. The contestants may also be asked to answer certain questions about that note. Answers to be given by PMs. Ties to be broken by successive rounds or a drawing if necessary.

Slang contest. Ask members to pair coin and/or note types/denominations to a list of well know numismatic slang, eg. "C-note" "Sawbuck" "wood chopper" "Bustie" "woody"... et al.

Answers to be given by PM and ties broken by drawing or random number generator if needed.

Contest to list all the Series of notes that bear a likeness of Alexander Hamilton. Answers to be given by PM. The member(s) with the most win or are asked to do another round, all the Series of notes that bear a likeness of Ben Franklin, PM answers and repeat.

There are a lot of series bearing these guys, it could be challenging! :D

Mintage scavenger hunt! Base this contest on a given years Red Book, say the 2010, most have this one available. Post a mintage number, say that of the 1971-P Cu-Ni Ike (47,799,000). Members have to find this number then are instructed to use the first two numbers "47" to find a coin dated in a 18 or 19 '47 year that matches another mintage figure that you supply, say the mintage of an 1847 Seated Quarter (734,000), again instruct the first two numbers be used to locate another issue of coin, and so on. Create a list of coins and close possible mintage figure matches so that it is difficult to answer all of the clues correctly. Say you have a list of ten types of coins, each with a clue to the next to determine answers to complete the list. Answers are given by PM, as usual, and those with the correct list to your clues win(s) and ties broken accordingly. Kind of tedious but a contest should take some work.

    In Praise of Cman contest...

All you have to do to sign up for the contest is to post to the contest thread, BUT in order to qualify contestants must post a praise worthy statement for Cman, maybe even one of his own making, "Cman is da' man!" or "Cman is King-God-Cool of the Universe"

After a week of solid praising, names are to be drawn for a winner.
