Sometimes I get a kick out of spending $1 bills.... I went to a Pizza place and my total was $5.12....I laid down $6 all in $1 bills all spread out so the girl could count them as I put them down...she looked at them and then back at me and said...."That is $6 dollars right??...I really can't count".... I wanted to ask what she was doing working the register....but I was nice and said....yes ma'am.... Speedy
Uhhh... Some funny stories like Taco Hell can be found here: http://www.snopes.com/business/info/tacobell.asp
Yes on almost all of these (really should post a poll where you can select more than one option, lol) I always check my change from stamp machines (and light rail ticket machines) for any Sacagaweas and SBAs that are of decent quality... I do save at least one of each year and mintmark, but the rest I spend. Wouldn't spend Eisenhowers anymore, on the off chance I get one in circulation... but I have spent them, back when it wasn't all that unusual to see them in circulation. Twenty years ago when I lived in Newtown, PA, many stores in the area would have them in the drawer. I'd buy a few, search through them for years I need (or any better condition than what I had) and spend the rest elsewhere. Have spent $2 bills before, if they aren't in great condition or particularly old. Can't remember the last time I've see one in circulation, been a few years at least. I check wheat pennies if I see them, for any years I still need, but spend them otherwise. Spend Kennedy halves all the time... the byproducts of my roll searching I try to spend to get rid of, lol. Love cashiers reaction to them, many have never seen them or at least rarely have. Would never spend a Franklin half (I was born after they stopped minting them, so they have always been a novelty to me) and never have. Westward journey nickels are nothing special, this close to the Denver mint, lol... saved one of each, and any others I just spend. If I ever see any old style dollar bills... say red seal notes or silver certificates, I'd save them. Considered saving an old $20 bill I got once (not that old, but before the giant portrait version, was 1990 series) but ended up just spending it. Have once seen a dollar bill as old as 1963 in circulation, still very crisp... regret not saving it, I just spent it.
I have spent them all, unless by "old style dollar bills" you meant the large sized notes. I get boxes of halves to search for silver, so I spend halves everywhere I go. Even if I wasn't searching for silver, the reaction alone to the halves and Sacs would be worth their spending.
I spent them all but the Franklin Half. Also if the Kennedy Half is 90% or 40% I have not spent them.
