Just got home from metal detecting and I found a 1989 P dime that appears to have been hot from within and bulged out the front and back.....very odd, has anyone ever saw anything like this, the head is bulged out and unrecognizable, just like if you burn your skin and a big blister raises up, well this is on front and back of this dime, getting ready to go out and eat so will post pic later, take care my friends, Teresa ;0)
Hi, welcome to coin talk. Only a guess here but it looks like it might have been in a fire at some point. I know heat can cause the clad plating to bubble like that.
nothing appears to be melted anywhere, could be right though, I have no idea at all, I know nothing about coins, I just love diggin em up, lol
Yeah, thats only my opinion. I know there's a lot more knowledgable people on here than me so perhaps you'll get more opinions. Just keep diggin and post your finds here, we love looking at them!
Thank you, I dread winter coming as ground will be froze, :0( I have only been using the detector for about 4 weeks, it is a DFX E series, I've had it about 5 years but never used it as I could not figure it out, but I lost my Moms antique diamond ring about 4 weeks ago and it made me get it out and start learning, I haven't found her ring yet tho, but I've got faith that someday I will....It is hard for me to detect gold yet but I might join a metal detector club in Cincinnati if I can find one and learn from them.....take care my friend, Teresa ;0)
