2 adds running in my feed today; source sells counterfeits and uses stolen images of genuine slabbed coins and adds from good Dealers in the listings. I previously reported the 1875-CC PCGS slabbed image and the Dealer's images and they were removed but replaced with others. I am guilty of purchasing one of the 1875-CC's; I wanted to see what I would receive and if it had a working chip, which it did not: I have reported the adds to FB for what that will get me- seems something better could be done about these. Love this one for the NGC 1918/7 SL quarter: https://goodooid.com/products/1918-7-s-25c-standing-liberty-quarter-ngc-au-55
What no close up on the 18/7. I found one in a pawn shop once, Fake as Clinton on a three dollar bill.
FB is a cesspool. I'm guessing Zuck cares even less about facilitating the sales of counterfeits than ebay or HiBid or Etsy. Haven't been on there in over a year.
And another from this ad: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1552881943...3aO9VlIvdWjhIkZIcyIKzAaw==|tkp:Bk9SR6bE1vaaYQ
And these keep popping up... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1553078124...84&osub=-1~1&crd=20221213182115&segname=11001
Says "copy" in the description, as if that matters. Reported. Edit - seller took it down. I sent them a message and got the usual attitude in response, but they killed it anyway.
So is that "CĊ" mintmark (dot above the second C) a tell, or is there an actual variety with that feature?
I wonder if mass PM would be a better avenue. All of those have different certs. They are getting better by the day, buy smart folks.
Coin Week's follow-up article to mine: https://coinweek.com/counterfeits/l...tified-morgan-dollars-appear-in-facebook-ads/
Did I read that correctly? One "victim" bought five of them, all from the same seller, all with the same cert #? What makes them think they're getting an $825 coin for $25? I guess greed overwhelms all rational thinking.
