Someone has to find something older than this!

    It is still out there!

Unfortunately, most of it is stolen!

I doubt it eyesee as you see anything BEFORE 1928 would be large size currency. It won't fit in a modern day wallet and even the non collector would realize that something is different. I'm afraid 1928 is as far back as we'll go.

Don't be too sure. I don't remember where I posted it, but I remember asking this one teller what's the oldest note she saw. From the sketchy details of here story, I gathered she'd gotten a 1921 Federal Reserve Note. She actually folded it up and sent it back the the Feds in a Bundle of $1 bills (I still shutter at the thought).

You're right Gatzdon as I responded to that horror story!

I figure it was a 1923 horseblanket Still, I doubt we'll be hearing many stories about people getting large size in change from McDonalds.

About fifteen years ago, while I was working at a book store, a customer paid for a purchase with a 1934c ten dollar bill. I swapped out for it immediately. That job also landed me some other nice old notes, but the 34 was the best. no holes, no tears, some wear, but still in remarkably good shape.

I would get many 1928 $1 and $5 back in the 80's in circulation, along with notes in the 1930's. I was not a collector so eventually spent them. My uncles used to carry around I think 1934 series $1000 bills with him, two of them, not sure where they went since he passed away a couple of years ago.

1934 $10 note.....received it in change from a toll both here in Orlando. I gave it to my daughter and she wanted me to sell it for here on Ebay. It sold for $11 dollars which I gave her but after the fees and shipping I probably only netted like $8 bucks lol

Little tip I used to use if anyone is interested. I used to have my local bank order bundles of $2 bills. You would be surprised how many older notes are in these, since they do not circulate, just like halves. I used to tell them my boss wanted to use them for a promotion, then simply return them to another bank. Cheap way of picking up silver certificates and old notes.
