Not really but video is acceptable and can be shared via YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo and other hosting sites. Videos can be embedded in the body of posts here on CT as well. However, I trust we can all be honest and Cman could request (and expect) that no one (no collector of coins) will cheat nor so desire to apply glue or tape or anything else adhesive to their coins to win a simple contest. Also, with US Coins, you need not worry about magnets.
Idea #17 Cman provides two lists: 1) A list of several Treasurer's names that have appeared on U.S. notes. 2) A list of several Series of notes on which these names appeared. The first person to identify and post the correct paring wins.
Use google maps to hide a coin somewhere in the world. Give clues each day pertaining to the location. After a certain length of time (a week or a month), whoever guesses the location or the one who gets closest, wins.
depends what the prize is. a million and i can fool you, i might do it. i really like the idea though. reminds me of dominoes, or jenga. id be totally into that one. only prob is i would use canadian pennies, and i think us are not as even on thickness. so might be an advantage for me, unless the rules are that all coins must be identical. think i would have a hard time finding a box or two of us pennies. if you ever host a contest please use this. i like it
Another contest idea could be to guess the product of the spot price of silver on the LME, frinstance, 21.45 would be 2 x 1 x 4 x 5 or 40, 23.76 would be 2 x 3 x 7 x 6= 252, if nobody gets the answer exactly you could award the prize to the closest guess.
I can't believe nobody has yet suggested an ebay scavenger hunt. They did one of those on ebay a while back and I loved it. You had to find the correct listing and bingo! you won a prize. You could post a listing for a coin with some sort of elementary error... such as a listing for a 1908 Lincoln Memorial Cent... you get the idea.
Idea #18 A Dukes of Hazzard TV show trivia contest. There was usually some corrupt something or other going on in Hazzard, I'm sure there's a money theme in there like in Money to Burn:
PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then let members vote on their favorite. (idk if anybody suggested this yet; didnt take time to read all the ideas) EDIT: the pumpkin must be coin-related. I'm fixin to start a wheat cent reverse to enter into a contest (I think, never tried it before and we'll see how the wheat ears go lol).
Design your own coin contest! Make your own coin design and post it here (if anybody already suggested this, sorry. I didn't take the time to read all of the ideas.)
call the error on one of boss hogs handful of bills that he drops when the boys come in. or count them? face value? actually im sure there are fake bills used in the show.
You pick a number between 1 and 1000, write it down, then have the entrants guess. The one who gets it first wins. You might want to limit it to 3 guesses max per person. Bruce
how about pick a number between 4,000 and 8,000 for the # of entries that krispy will try to get into this contest?
