Thought it was too pretty to pass up! I have always loved the Classic Head design, the scroll date is nice (love the ornate 2), and the tiny bit of redish color. I paid a little more than i wanted ($234). I think PCGS values this coin and grade between $215 and $227. I think it's a bargain being nearly 200 years old and in this nice a condition.
Love it. I think these early cents (and half cents) don't get the interest they deserve. Only 234,000 of those 1/2 cents from 1826 were minted, plus it's nearly 200 years old and in nice shape. I'll take one!
Very nice coin & quite original looking. What's going on above the date? I see what looks like some die marks (to the right of the date), but also an old dig or something (directly above date). Not sure though and thus the question. Regardless of the above, it's a very attractive coin and one I'd be happy to own. Congrats!
The greysheet tells me that you didn't overpay (AU-50 = $145; MS-60 = $300). I'm particularly fond of Classic Head half cents. It's a series I'm trying to finish up. Your coin would be an upgrade for me. Well done. Nice purchase.
