Silver halves feel "sticky" pulled from circulation

I have noticed when I roll searching and find silver that is has a distinctively different feel. The rim is higher and the surface doesn't feel as slick. Anyone else notice this?

Yeah. I did actually. Thought I was just "feeling" things (instead of seeing things lol). And sticky is just the right word. I carry one around in my pocket and its always weird to handle new ones then pick that one up.

I think it has something to do with how they were stored. I bought a bunch of silver quarters a while back and when they came in the mail they were, as you said, "sticky". When I dropped them one by one from my hands they almost seemed to fall slower (obviously not possible) and they made a slightly different sound. Sometimes I find silver dimes like that too.
