Okay so Midnight is upon us! The top 3 consists of the most voted upon coins with some specifically nominated coins for me to look for:

    1. 1943D Jefferson Nickel MS 63/64 (Jefferson Silver War Nickel)
    2. 1909 VDB Any Grade or 1943 Lincoln Steelie in MS (Wheat Penny)
    3. 1916-1931 EF or 1942 Micro S Mercury Dime in F/VF (Mercury Dime)

Here is a list of the people who participated by either nominating a coin or voting and will have their name each put into a hat once. I will then select one name from the hat as the winner of one of the three coins I am able to buy for $7:

    1. coop
    2. coleguy
    3. Ardatirion
    4. Collect89
    5. lincolncent
    6. coervi
    7. BadThad

    17. 10gary22
    18. SilverCeder
    19. cubenewb
    20. bqcoins
    21. Brokencompass

I would like to thank all those who participated! Many more coins and paper you all nominated will be on my list of coins to buy and I will gladly share any pics of those coins that I am able to find and purchase.

However, on this Sunday 10/10 I will post a picture of which one of these Top 3 coins voted on that I was able to buy for $7 and select 1 of the 21 names as the winner of that coin.

    Thanks again!

Because of all the nice feedback I got on this thread and the fact that I found two coins of the Top 3 that met the criteria and because I found two more that almost met the standard for the 3rd coin, there will be 4 winners. There were 22 people who entered. I put all the names into a hat and I randomly drew these 4 names. As I drew a name they were matched with the Top 3 coins in the order listed above.

    And the winners are....

    Prize #1

1943-D Jefferson War Nickel in MS-63 - was marked at $9 and got it for $8

    Prize #2
    8. coinmaster1
    b.jpg
1943-S Steel Lincoln Penny in MS63 was marked at %10 and I got it for $7

I decided to give two more prizes as I could not find a fair priced 1916-1931 Mercury dime in XF as suggested but Ifoudn what I believed to be a nice deal on an XF from 1936 and 1937 at $4.50 each.

    Prize #3
    16. Evom777 - 1936 Mercury Dime in XF

    Prize #4
    4. Collect89 - 1937 Mercury Dime in XF

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all that participated! Please send me an address so I can send out your prizes!

Thanks again for participating in the $7 Experiment!

I have learned so much and you all to thank!

Sounds like you had a fun time and you got some nice looking coins. It was also fun to see what coins were suggested to you.

Thanks so much for the contest and my prize ! The nickle is better than the one in my set, being MS63. I am replacing my AU55 with it as soon as I get to the bank where everything is stored.

    Thanks again,

I got the coin today, and it looks great. Hope it doesn't disappoint you, rrekowjr, but my coin is an error, 1943S-1DR-002. Here is a pick from coppercoins.com:
