I recently started roll searching and I found this 1988 Washington Quarter pictured below (Sorry for the low resolution/definition). I was wondering if this is an error. I think it's a Filled-Die Error, but I'm still pretty new at this, so expert opinions would be appreciated If it is an error, is it worth much? I'm assuming it's not much because it doesn't seem to be a major error. But then again, I am still new at this. Thanks
The die looks fairly deteriorated and it's misaligned, but nothing major. What is it that you are seeing?
i see it. my first bet would be it is post mint damage, but i cant see anything around it in your pic to say something struck the coin. i would suggest a better pic for the experts to chime in on.
I'm starting to think PMD as well. I looked at it with a 40x loupe this time and I could see the top of the "I" and "N" somewhat definitively and there are raises on the blob where the letters should be. But, there aren't any marks (that I can see/notice) on the rim or the field that indicate after mint damage. Also, the left branch of the "T" in "TRUST" seems to be shorter than the right branch. I'll see about getting a better camera to help out.
