Hi All, Newbie here to the forum. Ive always had an interest in what treasures could be hiding in the coin jar but never came across anything worth digging deeper. I have a 2008 Lincoln Penny that seems to have a slight filling in the upper half of the 8 in 2008. Being a novice I'd like to hear from the experts on this. I did my best on the photos attached but will be happy to post more if needed.

Thank you in advance for your opinions,

    Matt

Yes, it is a filled 8. Not much premium, but they are scarcer on the newer cents.

Looks like a die chip.. Very cool, pretty common though.

    Hello there,

Although these errors are pretty common and don't add much if any value to the coin, I save them anyway. I have 2x2 cardboard flips that were purchased on-line and I dedicate a box to all the error coins I can find. I think the greatest bang from this hobby comes from finding something "different" in circulation.

    Good eye, nice find.

Pleased to meet a fellow searcher.

Thank you guys for the fantastic responses. After this find I would like to start a collection of sorts, common or not, as this is simply fascinating to me. I look forward to learning and interacting with you in the forum and thank you again for your insight!

    With Kind Regards,
    Matt
