South African Gold Coin w/ Lions Face...can anyone tell me exactly what coin this is?

    From this small image i can say it is a possibly South African, possibly gold coin, with lions face on it.

    For more details, please post a large photo of both sides of the coin.

    South Africa issues lots of gold coins (see http://www.samint.co.za/ -> Collector Coins) but that one, hmm. Don't think it is a Natura issue (see Matt's reply) but yes, a more detailed picture (both sides) would help ...

    Hi

    I am a bit late, but this morning I looked around for your lion! It definitely seems very similar to the 2003 1 ounce Natura gold coin, but those are R100-coins. Yours is probably the smaller version (1/4 ounce or even smaller?). It makes sense because the head fills the entire coin, while it is not the case with the larger coins. (This lion is on the reverse of the coin.)
