Hi williy10. The coin you posses is a fake recreation of a confederate one cent piece. There are less than 90 specimens of the confederate cent piece known and authenticated in existence in copper, silver,or gold. All of the real cent pieces were made from one unique die dating 1861. The dies were copied in 1960 and copies were made but have little value. The coin in your photo appears to have a date of 1862 which makes it a fake and a coin from this period would no longer have its original coloring without being encapsulated and cared for dearly. Gratz on owning a beautiful remake but is a remake nontheless.

How many of these fakes were made? I have the same coin 1862. I got it back as change 25 years ago.
