I would love some opinions on this Morgan. I have such a hard time determining AT or Natural when it comes to these darker coins. To be honest when it comes to toning I have a difficult time with all toning. Help! The pics are the best I can do to capture the color. The color of the toning varies from dark to lighter purple with a bit of cobalt blue. Thanks in advance for your help
I here ya! It is ugly but it's a VAM 35 (Sextupled Left Stars, Doubled Profile, Engraved Wing Feather) Looks to be in pretty good shape despite the toning. I was hoping it would straight grade.
At least it is evenly toned on both sides. I like toned morgans but when I flip it and the other side is blast white... I'm done with it... I had one Morgan once it was the one I shouldn't have sold. It had speckled purple on both sides. So even it was like it was painted on.
Looks natural to me. Envelope or desk toning? Not particularly attractive in my opinion. I also don’t think it’s ugly. I’d consider it neutral.
Someone that does not understand the possible results of "dipping" a coin, and possibly doing so when it had already been dipped, and possibly a failed Coin Doctor job that was an oops.
How about this 1923 Peace toned from reds to blues, AT or NT ? I say it's AT but how do we know ? Heated metal will discolor. Is that what happened here ? View attachment 1523084
