Has anyone compiled a list of Board Members AND their ebay seller names? As someone new to this I've so far avoided ebay until I'm more educated but would feel more comfortable dealing with sellers from here instead of strangers when I DO decide to venture into it.
LOL, I'm not saying I must. In fact don't know if I ever will. Just thought it might be a good idea for others who do decide to go that route.
I won't knock Ebay. I am sure that there are many good and honest people who deal on that site. What I suggest to my customers is that they use the numismatic dealers directory to cross referrence against Ebay dealers. If they are full time dealers that sell coins for a living, they are more apt to be reputable. Now I do not want to give the impression that all full time dealers are honest, but that is the recommendation that I give. You can order a copy of the dealers directory at: http://www.greysheet.com
I tried to order the greysheet & directory last week but was unsure my order went through. I never received a confirmation or anything...I need to check my credit card statement & follow up with them via phone if not. Thanks!
Thanks ND, for the kind words. It's true that in addition to the full time shop and the light show schedule I do a fair amount on ebay....100 auctions or so per week is the norm although that fluctuates. If there's ever any ebay questions I can answer I'd be happy to try. There are some superb sellers and buyers there, just as there are some bad eggs. Ebay can be fun and is a place to find things that just can't be easily found anywhere else. I always advise getting to know your seller a little bit...their feedback, time as an ebay member, type of auctions they run...all these things paint a picture of the seller. I often wish feedback could translocate into the real day to day world so we could always know a little bit more about the people we deal with.
joesmom - If and when you decide to test the waters on ebay - write to me and tell me what you want. If I don't have it - I'll give you a list
joesmom-- You can download the CDN in a PDF file. You give them your credit card info, and they give you access to the download (and charge $4 to your card). That way you will never lose it and you can print it out anytime you need it or just look at it on your computer.
Ebay is alright if you are careful. NEVER buy from anyone that does not have an extremely high positive feeback percentage. NEVER buy from anyone that does not have a return policy. NEVER buy from anyone that has a high shipping charge; even if they have a return policy. If they sell a $15 coin that is returned a dozen times and they make 3 or 4 dollars every time, that adds up. Do a search here, I have seen some good input about buying on Ebay.
