http://www.archivesinternational.com/ American Bank Note Company Archives Auction, Part VI The Auction to be held on October 22nd and 23rd, 2010 at the New Yorker Hotel in New York City, New York. The auction is being held in conjunction with the American Stamp Dealers Association - National Postage Stamp Show scheduled October 21-24.
Hi Krispy, good to hear from you. I've been pretty busy lately. My brother and both want to learn to fly radio controlled model airplanes, I had to buy a PC that is capable of running Real Flight G5 flight simulator which is a pretty demanding program. it's very cool, I bought a video card that connects the PC to my large plasma TV. Eventually, my brother who lives and Tennessee and I will be able to fly dogs flights and such on the same screen which I think is pretty cool. I haven't done much with bullion or currency collecting this this summer. been thinking about attending the ABNCo auction, but return to reality when I realize I'd have to put up with NYC.
Wow! RC planes is serious money-- everybit as much as are numismatics and bullion investing! Good luck juggling all these at the same time. It sounds fun though. Drop by to give us a shout any time! :thumb:
Thanks for the link Midas! Always nice to even look through the catalog. A couple vignettes in there that look really nice!
I was just scrolling through some of these lots. There are plenty of terrific proofs to be found -- banknotes, stocks, and ephemera. I'll post one of my favorite vignettes--for the edification of those in NYC. Is anyone planning to actually attend this?
Great link and looks to be a very interesting auction. Odd that there are no banknotes from the Netherlands. Here's one printed by ABNC that I used to own with a unique serial #.....
So hiho and krispy, you're both close enough to attend this -- are you going? These events are a great education even if you don't buy anything. I only wish we had these opportunities in the Northwest.
I hadn't thought I would have been able to attend but perhaps I shall try to. I will look into the attendee details and see if I need to register, any fees and whatnot. Thanks for the suggestion. There are so few numismatic shows in the city available I hardly focus on whats happening locally and use online resources more than anything.
I would love to attend but will be working 6 days weeks throughout all of October and simply do not have the time. By the way I love the Northwest United States, it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
Portland is a great city -- lots of cultural activities and short driving time to forests, mountains, and the Oregon coast. But, alas, not many coin and paper money shows or auctions. New York has its benefits, too.
