Looking for advice on how to take a clear pic of a coin to post. New to error coins and I found a 71 D Kennedy possible DDR . To much of a rookie to tell if it is true DD or mechanical doubling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Coin Talk. What kind of camera do you have?

Just a cheap kodak easyshare C813. I tried for one hour and every pic was not clear. I even tried using my magnifier and it showed in the veiwfinder clear but when I took the pic it wasn't clear . I assume too much movement. I was thinking about trying to stabilize it somehow ?

I use a little tripod or prop the camera up with books. It takes practice but it can be done. Sometimes I have to take a few dozen pics to get just one good one!

Thanks I believe with the info and a little time I can get a clear one. Going to give it a try.

TN if your camera has a timer no it that will help.

I will almost bet that the doubling on your '71 Kennedy is machine doubling. When I was searching $500 boxes of halves, I must have seen thousands and thousands of 71-D with machine doubling.
