    BjC,this is a 10 Pence piece from Ireland.In 1969,the 5p. & 10p. coins were issued,but Ireland did not officially change over to decimal currency until the 15th of February 1971,which was also the same date as Great Britain's decimal changeover.I have one of these coins.Modern Irish coins are popular with collectors of British Commonwealth coinage,although Ireland withdrew from the British Commonwealth in 1949 upon becoming the Republic of
    Ireland.
