Got this from a lady at work, the scans came out bad, the coin look like a proof, the fields are like a mirror..note lint and a smudge on the coin.

Nice find. Variety 2 reverse. Circulated proof. Value (of course) starts at $1...;) but it seems to have a lot of marks and minor hits so face value in my book. Also seems to have a rub or finger print smudge (lightly) around 4-5 o'clokc on the obverse. Does the reeded edge show copper? Or is it a 40% silver Ike? If this is silver then intrinsic value according to Coinflation, is currently just shy of $7.

Don't attempt to clean it! Don't clean coins. Read about it in MANY MANY other threads first as to why and the ways people discuss it and how they go about it when they need to. Especially avoid cleaning a coin if you have no prior experience doing so.

Scanners catch a lot of ugly details. The link could be blown off with canned air if you are careful with it.

Considering that it's only worth a buck, go ahead and clean it if it'll make you happy.

hmm.. i think people will pay more than 1$ for an ike... just from experience......

yes, collectors will pay more than $1 for a problem-free Ike and perhaps more than $1 if it were a 40% silver Ike despite the condition. however, given the condition, a circulated proof with finger print smudge, hairline scratches and other things we can't tell from the scan, this cu-ni ike is common (2010 RedBook says mintage for type 2 was 4,149,730) and not worth more than a $1. Anything higher for this coin is excessive, even if your experience proves otherwise, those paying more may not be experienced nor frugal buyers.

i didn't say it mattered who would buy it just that SOMEONE might pay him more than a dollar if he wanted to sell it so personally i wouldn't spend it...

You didn't really say anything with the prior comment. It was open ended and contained unsupported reasoning that may confuse or misinform the OP.

SOLD! To part the fool with his money! (jk)

...but seriously, it's not worth the extra .25¢, which is perhaps why it was placed in circulation in the first place-- that or the unfortunate fingerprint.

Put it up for auction on Ebay, and I'll bet you'd get between $1.25 and $1.50.
