Picked up some tea at McDonald's today...glanced through the change, and found this 82...

Huh...bit of a MAD there. Whadya know.

Had it stopped there, I'd likely not have given it a second thought. Flipped it over to check the reverse, and something seemed...not quite right. Took me a few minutes to catch it...

Really? Is it as far off as my eyes think it is? That's a good 10 degrees or more.

    Yep.

I know...still probably not worth a whole lot, both of these being mechanical errors obviously. But it IS the first one I've ever been handed that appears to have suffered multiple unrelated mistakes.

So that makes it pretty spiffy to me. :D

the pic of the reverse is playing with my eyes. at first looked like a brockage, then normal. every time i look back at it this happens again. it is a raised design right?took me a while to catch it but unless one of your pics is upside down you have more like a 170 degree rotation. if not then i dont think worth much, but lets see what the experts have to say.

Yes, typical lincoln cent reverse, raised design.

Sorry! My mistake. I posted/created the images as the coin would appear if you flipped it "bottom to top" to view the reverse. It is NOT a nearly 180 rotation, though I see how my confusing images could make it seem so. Sorry about that! :)

I'm certainly no expert, but I'm inclined to agree. As I said above, I doubt it carries any significant value. It is, however, unique to ME simply from the standpoint of presenting two flaws that seem, to me at least, to be completely unrelated.

    Cool Find in change !

A friend recently found half a dozen 30 degree rotated dies in the same roll. Phillys also. Maybe this was a bad year for the Philly mint ? lol

sorry hope i didnt come off blunt. i didnt mean to knock you or your coin, just trying to help out. i think its a cool find. i too keep coins i know really arent worth anything, but i like them and thats all i need. and that pic wow blows my mind even though i know it ia a raised design i cant convince my eyes. i need to look at "states" and concentrate. only then does the rest of the coin look raised. you should keep this pic and sell it or something. its like those pictures you have to look at crosseyed to see an image fron a bunch of squiggles.is it only me or is it the pic?

Hey, why not? I have bad years all the time! lol

No worries at all, didn't come across that way a bit to me. :) We're all good. :)

Absolutely. I mentioned yesterday in another thread about old circulating coins...this hobby isn't an investment exercise for me, and it's really not even about having a 'set" of something or other (though I certainly do work on sets along the way)

I collect a coin because I like it. Maybe it's the design, or the strike, or the fact that it IS old and worn and has stories it could tell...or maybe it's because it's an oddball to me, like this one.

Like you said...if we enjoy our coins, what else do we need from the hobby? :)

I think I, at least, am gonna have to say it's you. *lol* Pic doesn't do anything of the sort for me. i know exactly what you're talking about, but that pic doesn't trigger it for me.

    *shrug*

    Then again...maybe I'm the weird one! :too-funny:
