I'm really looking forward to the proof ASE's though. I wanted one this year for a "keepsake" of sorts. I graduated this year and wanted something numismatic and special for this year to keep. (and I started dating an amazing girl this year so.......)
Hey love struck. Stick to coins..... It's easier on the labido...J/K I, as well, hope to see the ASE's in proof this year.....
So can we estimate the number of proof ASEs the Mint will produce based on the reduction of parks 3" coins?, Heck, let's shave off a couple more inches and get these Proof ASEs back in collectors hands! Like I've been saying folks... get your Proof ASE subscriptions set up early!
Just what the hockey pucks need. After spending all year experimenting and testing the working out all the bugs, and getting the planchet suppliers all tooled up and the first batches of planchets ordered at the last moment we get legislation to change the diameter, the thickness, the edges and possibly even the design. In other words "It's October folks, start over again from scratch, but have them before the end of the year." And why, since the new legislation doesn't set a specific size, do I see the mint offereint different size varieties in the future. "Now in 2.5, 2.75 and 3 inch versions, collect all three. Get them with or without edge lettering and in both design types." Potentially 60 different versions each year. No I don't think it will go that far, but I could see different sizes in different years. Frankly I don't mind the authorization to make the Proof eagles or the legislation to let the mint test new compositions for coinage. (Although frankly that last legislation is unneeded. The mint can already run such tests and experiments. They would still have to get the Congress to act to actually CHANGE the compositions.)
This is my favorite picture of us. And as a matter of fact I have gotten her interested in coin collecting. She's found me quite a few silver coins and old cents (a ton of wheats) and she accompanies me on my antique-mall/flea market trips sometimes.
