After almost 50 years of collecting I have finally finished my Lincoln Cent collection! This is the last one I needed. Don't have a 22 plain or a 55 DD, but I regard those as error coins.
Congrats. I am also closing in on completing my Lincoln set. My intercept has a hole for the 22, so I will have to eventually get that. The 09 you have looks to have a nice grade. Again congrats. I bet you can't help but to keep looking at that completed set.
Congrats And only a 50 year journey. Now you can spend the next 50 looking for replacements/upgrades of the ones you have.
congrats and what a beautiful coin to end on. I have been working on mine for the last 12 years and still haven't filled the last 4 holes in my Intercept Album. Hope it does'nt take me another 38 or that '09SVDB might just be a $10,000 coin.
So, out of curiosity, are you going to go the "upgrade" route or will you work on a new issue? Is the S-VDB indicative of the quality you were after? Looks at least XF if not AU. I try(!) to buy a coin only once. I carefully plan my collecting criteria for an issue and stick to it. And mostly I manage to stick to the plan. But plans can change over time. My thinking for my IHC set has changed in the last couple years. Friday I'll do an upgrade and fortunately it will be the ONLY one I anticipate for that set (I hope).
Great coin! Great collection. Congrates on that!! Did you get the all pretty much in that shape? And are you going for the "errors" (22plain and 55ddo) next or upgrading or another set next?
That's one thing nice about numismatics. You get to define your collection(s). My Lincoln set DOES include the '22 Plain and the '55 DDO. Just my preference. But my Morgans DON'T include an 1895. It's proof-only and I don't collect proofs. That also helps me avoid thinking about a coin that I couldn't afford anyway
Congrats. As noted above, now the upgrading begins. Went the same route myself, about 50 years to complete then upgrades. Well Done!
Congrats! I'm working on a full Lincoln set. I do plan to get a plain '22 and '55 DDO but I've still got a LONG ways to go before even getting there.
nice-must feel good to complete the set,I've been working on that set out of circulation for close to ten yrs.
Good job. I would agree with the OP that both the 55 dd and 22 Plain are errors. If you want a completely different change of pace, try ancients where there are no real "sets" except for what you yourself wish to accomplish. Much more freeing than trying to fill holes.
LMFAO!! By the way, congrats to you poppa501! 50 years is long enough, and I'm glad you finished...now how about that 55 and 22? LOL
