I am new to collecting bank notes, and have been specialising in collecting English notes. I have noticed that on some of the Lowther notes they often refer to them as "cut Halo" and "Full Halo". Can anyone explain what this means, I have tried to look at the notes and they look the same to me so cant tell what exactly it means. Any help is appreciated.

ok this is what i know in may 2002 the new historical issue was brought in to being but there was problems with the varnish coating and the full halo in the silver hologram was not up to scratch so in august 2002 same year btw the first notes were recalled as they brought out the new notes with a better varnish and a cut halo hologram. hope this helps, just to let you know second notes with a pre fix off hco1 is the one to watch.
dave , thats all i know so happy hunting

I understand that but what is meant by the term HALO. The silver hologram looks the same to me on both full and cut
