Question for long-time album collectors. Going to start a type set in album but am torn between Dansco and Intercept albums. What are the advantages of one over the other? Any help is appreciated, no close coin stores to where I live so I will have to order on-line. Thanks in advance!
I like the looks and the way that the Dansco's are built. They seem to be better and they have the eye appeal. However the Intercept Shield is suppose to have better protection against toning. It very well could. I have both and they seem to be both not toning the coins, i have a slip case with the dansco, but time will only tell. The Intercept Shield just appears to be cheaply made, but maybe it was only mine.
I agree that the Dansco albums seem to be a better quality album especially when accompanied by a slip cover. However, the toning resistance really is very important factor. This Barber was completely white when I put it in the album but the slide did not completely cover the obverse and the toning was rapid in the Dansco. I know it is just some rim toning but I also know it would not have happened in an Intercept Shield.
I like Dansco. I have a Dasnco album (with a slipcase) for a few of my silver art bars and so far it is good.
After looking at all the options over the weekend, decided to go with the Dansco with the slip cover that is "supposed" to help with toning. Thanks again with all the advice and your input. Will let you know when it gets here in the mail.
