Where can i Find rolls of state quarters without buying them for more than face value. I have tried my bank but they say that they dont have them, but my friend has 4 rolls of just West Virginia which he got from her bank, and she only pays $10 a roll. Do all banks carry rolls of just one type of state quarter? How should I aquire them? Will my bank have them when they first come out?
You need to look around untill you find a bank in your town that gets them....some banks just don't get the new coins. As for should you get them or not....that is up to you....do you like them? Don't think that they will go up...collect for the enjoyment....not for the $$ that might never come. Speedy
It all depends on the bank's policies, practices, and source of coins. Many small to medium size banks get their coins from larger correspondent banks, and may not be able to specifically request new coins, let alone particular new coins. All large banks, and some smaller ones, order their coins directly from the armored car companies, which are the primary market source of rolled coins. They can, but don't always, request specific coins. Your best bet is to make friends with the vault teller at your bank, and find out from him/her how they get their coins, and whether they can order the ones you want. Bear in mind that banks get their coins "by the box", which is generally 50 rolls of the same value. If you are the only one interested in the state quarters, and only want a couple of rolls, the bank isn't going to be too interested in buying a $500 box for your benefit. If your own bank isn't a good source, scout out the other banks in the area. Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and the other huge ones, are probably your best bet, although one of their small neighborhood branches may still be unable (or unwilling) to help you.
thank you for your imput, but i have an account at a large bank and when i asked for a roll they said they didnt have any! Please submit more ideas.
At times so much depends on who you know. I try to get to know all the tellers at any bank I go to. One friend of mine went to a bank in our town and couldn't get any rolls of halves or rolls of new nickels. He too was informed they didn't have any. I went to the same place 2 days later and came home with 4 rolls of halves, 2 rolls of new nickels, 5 $2 bills and a $50 bag of pennies. I go through the pennies when the weather is bad hoping for something great. Try to find out if anyone you know works in a bank or knows someone that works in a bank.
I only have trouble getting the Philly mint coins ,, But with a little effort I have developed trading partners on the otherside of the big muddy ,,and have been able to get almost all that I needed so far. Perhaps what you need is a trading partner ?? Rick
I'd go with the answer you've already provided......go to your friend's bank and get them there Don't be afraid to walk up to a teller and ask for a few rolls....worse they can do is say no.
Bank of America are great with this, they will order them for ya. Whole boxes if you want! You will only get D mint west of the Mississippi and P east of the Mississippi. For other coins (dimes etc.. ) try Starbucks
I live in a town of 800 (or thereabouts) with one bank (and no ATM). Our bank manager actually orders rolls of P state quarters, and will trade them for face. She had WV quarters within a two weeks of first release.
