I have only found one, and I would gladly trade it for your luck with halves. For that, I am jealous.

    Half dollar rollsearchers dream!

Went to several banks today first bank I got $30 in halves found 1 %40'er
Second bank I went to had $20 I got another %40'er
Third bank had no halves but I did find an ugly holed silver war nickel in six dollars of nickels
The last bank said they had $320 in halves but they have been gone through by collectors 2 or three times. I first got $200 in them, wasn't expecting anything until I got home and went through them. Bam! Two rolls all %40'ers! I went back to grab the rest of the halves they had and I found THREE more rolls of just about all $40'ers $46.50 in %40'ers total!
And when I was done with that I went through my box of halves I got 3 more %40'ers

$49.00 in silver half dollars what a day :smile

Got a box today. Been getting one box a week. In last month only 1 silver half in the four boxes. Found 5 circulated proofs. Been finding more proofs than silver halves in the boxes for about 3-4 months now. Bob, that is not good for us if banks in this area are starting to send in their halves instead of keep them. That means both Wells Fargo and Chase are doing it.

Apparently Cointstar machines kick out silver coins as underweight.........I was standing at walmart customer service not too long ago and a guy was pouring a jar in, some kept getting kicked out, after several tries, he got in line behind me to cash his ticket, after striking up conversation, one was a 1962 dime, a 1963 quarter, and a mercury dime. I told him what they were worth (told him about $7 for all three) and he offered them to me for $5, so.......rest is history.

back in 1968, my dad got a roll of new 1968 D dimes and found...
a 1968 S dime-only proofs were made, but looking at it, it does not look like a proof--except for the mintmark

    One year Summary

Last Friday was the first anniversary of my becoming a member here at CT, and starting to seriously rollsearch.

I want to also thank Erin (who gave me the idea of a spreadsheet), Chicken Little (who started the thread) and Bobbeth (who has been "guiding" it along and giving us "newbies" advice).

Results over the year, starting 9/24/09:

    Nickels:
4 Buffalo nickels, two dated two not.
    1 V nickel.
    11 War Nickels

    Dimes:

78 silver out of which 6 are mercs.

    1 1946 Quarter

    Halves:

    445 40%
    120 90% Kennedies.
342 Frankies (most on one really good day)
    28 Walkers
    2 Barbers
    1 Stone Mountain
    12 proofs

    (total 938 silver halves)

    Plus 4 1921 Morgans.

At today's prices, that is over 5K in silver value.

Thank you everyone for getting me interested in this interesting part of the hobby.
