2004 disabled veterans/Independence day. I could not find any info on the coin besides what I could read off of it, could anyone tell me about it ? (value, metal composition, etc.)
Not a coin but a medal - which means that (in theory) anybody could have made this. But judging from the inscription, I suppose that the DAV http://www.dav.org/ issued the piece. Unless somebody else here knows about this issue, it may make sense to contact them ... Christian
I cannot be sure, but I seem to recall something like this being issued by the Franklin Mint ? But the Danbury Mint and the National Collector's Mint also issue a lot of these kinds of medals. I do not have a link for their archives, sorry. And it could have been issued by the DAV itself. Here's a place that might be a start ? /http://franklin-mint-silver.com/franklin-mint-silver-home.htm
I still can't find anything on this medal, I'll take it to my local coin shop to see if they can identify it. Thank you all for your input.
The die work is not like the material you would see from any of the major private mints. They don't usually do anything that crude. I've seen the style before, usually on aluminum tokens and medals.
