    Hello,

After going throgh a bag of old coins I was given, I found a voce populi nelson 12th token or coin...I read somewhere that it is very scarce, it said Rarity 3 next to it but I'm not sure what that means...

The coin is slightly worn, and somebody has decided to put a hole right through the middle of it...though you can still see the face of Nelson...The date of the coin is 1760.. Has anyone here got any idea about the value of it?
    Thanks

It is a shame about the hole, it is a beautiful coin otherwise. It is not a Nelson 12th, nor is it the head of Nelson on the coin. It is a Voce Populi, variety N-12. Nelson came up with the variety designation system for these coins in the early 20th century hence his name in the variety. I have seen rarity ratings of R1 and R2 so it is a relatively common coin as colonials go. It is hard to give a value with the hole, it hurts the value tremendously but it has beautiful color and surfaces.

It's just my luck to have a valubale coin in my possession, and for it to have a hole through it!:)

Thanks for the information about it, am very grateful :smile It is a lovely coin and even though it's probably not worth alot now, it's quite nice to own something that old :)
