PB280028.jpg edit.JPG Ive really done some searching and my conclusion is that this coin is a 1883 small denomination territorial gold struck on a 1845 hard times token the reverse is also 25% off tell me what you think

Care to elaborate? Your coin looks like a copper token with verderis. Clarification may change minds!

A gold fractional dollar die would be about half the diameter of a dime. An 1845 hard times token die would be just a little smaller than a half dollar. Quite a mis-match don't you think? And I don't see any evidence of the reverse being off-center. 25% corrored off yes. No this is an 1863 store card civil war token. Sorry can't tell you which one.

I feel like I'm reading an eBay listing.

Really, y2koinking, it makes no difference whether or not it's unsearched. For all we know it could be a contemporary counterfeit.

One last thing, 25% off centered is pretty dramatic. I don't see it at all.

y2k, I don't mean to criticize but I find it very difficult to read your posts. It would be helpful if you could use punctuation (e.g., periods and question marks) and break your posts into sentences.

It is my opinion that this is a store card token with an obverse that resembles a liberty head. Gold does not behave in the manner as this specimen exhibits.

Do try to be kind with your replies. The folks who responded to your enquiry are quite knowledgeable. Being obnoxious will only result in being ignored.

    y2k,

You have gotten your answer. It is a severely damaged, common CWT - Civil War Token. If you want to believe it is a gold Hard Times Token that is your prerogative but very few here will agree with you.

I agree it is not gold and is a civil war store card.
