There is a local art competition that takes place every year in Grand Rapids called "Art Prize" that draws artists from all over. Artist's works are displayed at different locations through out the city. I woke this morning and was watching the local news and saw a picture of some work done by a local artist of a VERY LARGE 2006 Lincoln Cent that was made out of over 80,000 individual Lincoln Cents. I tracked down the picture from Wood TV 8's web site (Photo Credit). This was a very cool thing to wake up to. And thought I would share it with everyone. I have no association with the below artist. Just thought it was cool. Link to Artist Profile on Art Prize site: http://www.artprize.org/artists/public-profile/49655# Terry
That's awesome. I have a question though-what is it going to look like when they all turn brown? It doesn't look like they are protected.
That is a good question The Mrs. and I and some friends are going up to Grand Rapids this week sometime to check out the Art. When I make my way over the the Presidential Library I will check it out. I want take some pictures of my own of it. I will see if the Artist put some kind of clear coat on it. I hope or else it will become a rather large brown copper disc. Terry
I work in downtown Grand Rapids and I can see the Ford Museum from my office window. My firm is sponsoring an Art Walk this weekend. I'll take some pics and post them.
Wow! That is really neat. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how much time it took and if they checked for varieties. :smile
The Mrs. was on facebook last night and came across this on the artist facebook page. Nice night shot of the reverse. Terry
