    My First Roll Search!

I searched $5 bucks worth of pennies, or 10 rolls, and found:
A 1955 POOR MAN'S DOUBLED DIE!!! THE SECOND FIVE IS DOUBLED!!! XF+
    1963-D Cent AU
    1969-D Dime VG
    1974-S Cent AU
    1979 Cent MS
    1982 Cent MS
    2009 Professional Life Cent AU

Here is a pic of the Poor Man's Doubled Die. Sorry it isn't that great of a pic. Doubling is more dramatic in person:

Great finds, especially the 1955 Poor Mans Doubled Die! Traded the coins back in today for $5 bucks worth of pennies more!

Went to a few banks today. No banks had any halves except for 1, they had 7.50 loose. I was able to pull 1-'64 and 1-'66 that were both very polished.

The last bank I went to right at close told me they had a bag of "old large dollar coins" that someone had just brought in but since they were closing they weren't willing to sort through it. I had to buy all or nothing. I shelled out the 405 dollars just in case old large dollar coins meant Peace/Morgans, but it didn't. Ended up with about 30 IKEs and the rest are a mix of SBA, Sacs and Presidents. There is a Fed Reserve Roll of 1979 SBAs and another for the 2000 Sacs.....guess I'll just be turning them back in

Sampson what happened to you? I don't think you ever posted what you found in the $1000 of halves you got and you have not responded to PM's lately. You ok?

    $500 Halves:
    Skunk

This makes for 6 skunks in a row. I will be taking a break for a while. It sucks getting nothing but skunks for 2 months straight. This is why I frown on the guys going through 10 boxes a bunch. Its what you call greedy.

I do apolgize for my lack of posting and my non responses to pm's. I have been battling the flu, my son had a cold and my daughter has strep throat. So I haven't had the motivation to log on. As far as my half dollar searching, Out of the 100 rolls I searched 43 of them were 40% silver, 2 full rolls of Franklins, 9 individual Liberty's. Was very exciting

Wow Sampson that is fantastic. Did those rolls come from boxes or were they customer wrapped? You have the best luck I've heard of

They were custmer wrapped, unfortunately I think my luck has ran out, I went back to my "favorite bank" and they told me they were out of halves and to come back and try again. I went to another local bank and they said they send all their halves back to the mint

I don't usually go to the bank and buy rolls, but I thought it might be a fun project to do with my kids. I plan on buying $2,000.00 in quarters...when I go to the bank should I ask for old looking wrapped rolls, or does it matter? Thanks

That sucks that there are no more of them but I think you've found many years worth of halves in a short window of time.

Just keep at it and I'm sure there will be more coming through the bank

No, Ikes are very far from rare. Except when used in the sentence: "I rarely see Ikes used in change, or to buy anything."
Or: " It would be a rare day if I ever got an Ike in change."

The bank has hired a bunch of morons.
    1) they never ship to the mint.
    2) they actually never ship to the Fed (MAY send to the Fed.Federal reserve)
    3) they DO actually ship them out to the armored car co, who MAY either a) re-roll them and send them to another customer upon request; or b) they may ship to the Fed.
    Their choice.
