      Hello..This is my first posting. The other day I was reading about mint marks. The question of how an OMM (over mint mark) came to be..D/S and so forth. I was surprised to learn that all MM are done at Philidelphia. When I thought it through, this made sense. A way to keep track when sending the planchets out to the other mints.
      What do you say to this? Is it true? If so..is it true for all modern coin? When did this practice begin? Does it hold true for Gold coins done at now unused Mints? Checking back tomorrow..Tony67
