Every coin has a history that connects people and places together, which fascinates me to no end. I held an 1867 coin in my hand the other day and wondered what its life had been. Had it been traded for grain or calico fabric in the 1800s. Had it settled into the bottom of a child's Christmas stocking. Had it ever been swallowed? Was it in the pocket of a soldier? These questions fascinate me - thus the allure of coins.
