Hello, I have this 1948 wheat cent and am trying to figure out if it is just a coincidence or if it may be some type of coin that was being tested between 1946 to 1958. Seem's that there were some odd actions around the switch of the penny at this time I have read about in the "Official Red Book, 'A Guide Book of LINCOLN CENTS', 3rd edition; Updated and Revised. - Q. David Bowers (Favored By David W. Lange; Copyright reasons)"

The '48' has a memorial type of design on the front and is of in my opinion, 'VG-AU50+' Grade, but this is not a garage made coin, It has been put up for probably most of its life by my grandfather. So if anyone can help I would love that and will have more posts soon, I have been working on a decent camera to take pictures with.

      My question:?
      Is this possible?
Is this a 'FOR SURE' grease error?
I have read that there were design tests being made at that time, so wonder what I should do with this coin to find more out...
If anyone would want to try and take this journey with me, [SNIP - don't post personal contact details, better to get people to PM you - thanks, Mod Team] I hope to hear from someone that knows a bit more than me, and I would love to figure out a 70-30% or possible 60-40% split on helping me sale some of my coin collection. I have from 1800's up. I look forward to talking to someone, THANKS!
