Just shows you that people will mention bad, rotten, cheap places, but a really horrible place is to horrible to discuss.

  3. When I first joined a coin forum in 2008, a thread about Coast 2 Coast came up. I believe the direct quote was "Run, don't walk, away!"

Littleton is actually not as bad as people say, at least with moderns. I can't afford classics so I cannot say about Littleton and classics, but back when I could afford to buy the P & D examples of each new coin, Littleton delivered every time, with perfect coins at a small, and acceptible, premium over face. (However....if anybody knows a better place to get P & D moderns in superior quality for lower price...please let me know! I have not been able to get any from late 2008 on, as my brother was buying them for me but lost his job and is still looking)

When I lived in Severn, MD these guys were my local shop. A bit over priced, but willing to negotiate on occasion. I was always treated fairly there.

    That's so sad yet true.

I thought that was Heratige Mint, Franklin Mint and Morgan Mint. Just use a little Acetone and they'll gain value.

Littleton's always been known for being pricey but I've always thought they were right on with the grading.

I've been dealing with Jake's Marketplace http://www.jakesmp.com since 1994 and The Coin Shop (in Indiana) http://www.coin-shop.com since 2005. Never had a problem with either. Good luck on finding some good coin dealers! They're out there...

Although I know no offense is intended but I do take offense to the statement. Not every coin is worth slabbing. Heck on Thursday I saw an NGC slab it said it was a coin that was worth $700. Well, it wasn't even the same coin.

Just cause the opinion is sealed in plastic doesn't change anything. When dealing with any company find out what their return policy is. Most follow ANA guidelines.

You must know of different dealers than I do because none that I know of do.

Really? I'm sorry. Ok maybe I should reword my statement to if they are a member of the ANA they should be using the return policy guide lines.

Did you contact Coast to Coast and demand a refund?

Colorized quarters? You're a fool. I bought the 24 Karat plated quarters from HSN - now THAT'S a good investment!

    :p

I did and they told me that all coins were sold as is and that unslabbed coins are graded according to their standards. I sent it to PCGs and NGC, it came back ungraded both times

Coast to Coast is a local shop, but before I went shopping there, I did a search on the internet. If you do so, you'll see reviews similar to the ones post above.

I take it that Coast to Coast is not part of the ANA then?

Dunno, but you can look it up on the ANA site. But given their business practices, I seriously doubt it.

Since Coast to Coast advertises in Coin World, I would send a letter to the editor of CW about this. The important thing is that you don't want to make any direct accusations, but if you phrase your comment in the form of a question, there isn't much that C-to-C can do about it. You would still be getting the word out about their practices.

Just bought a proof linc off them for my son's birthyear set. He gave me a good price compared to what perfectproofs on ebay is selling it for. Nice coin when it showed on Friday.

Coast to Coast Coins - review

My elderly father bought about 50 coin coins from this shop. I inherited them after the fact, and I will tell you these guys are 100% crooks. I sent in 8 (of what I thought were the best!) to NGC for grading. Every single one failed to meet the grade as stated by CoastCoin. Every one. Two were not even graded - "altered surface, no grade" and "unc details, improper cleaning". The rest of the supposedly Gem Unc. coins were UNC . . .some even low UNC. I called the shop to talk to them (before I got the grade results). I was polite and curteous and wanted to just ask what their policies and approaches were with respect to cleaning of coins prior to sale. Was given a sneering, insulting, tireade by the owner/manager for even asking questions about their policies concerning coin cleaning. Took lots of time to insult me, and how obviously ignorant I was. Belittled grading companies and how stupid I was for even using them. NOW I know why!!! (as if I didn't suspect already). This shop unfortunately is the kind of business that gives others a black eye, makes people suspicious and untrusting of other legitimate shops. Con artists and thieves. Beware.
