    Look at this Scam?
SGS MS-70 Which is impossible for that price right?

How can they legally do this? I was half tempted to buy them myself until I saw the grade. Then I figured they are cleaned, well polished and self-certified/slabbed.

I just want the whole set, condition isn't too important what would you recommend.

    Basement self slabber, I think.

There is a 14 day return policy.

Most likely graded on a custom scale, but there could be keepers.

Grading is an opinion. SGS's opinions are, how shall I say it, optimistic. Nothing illegal, per-se, but reason enough to stay away from coins encapsulated in their holders, IMO.

I had a gut feeling they were quite optimistic especially considering the quality of the photographs.
But I will definitely take your word for it.

From my experience with SGS slabbed coins, their "MS70" is the equivalent of PCGS "AU55".

Only if they have not been harshly cleaned or polished - which to SGS still qualifies as a 70.

SGS operates on a limited budget and could only afford to buy MS-70 and PF-70 inserts. That's why none of their coins grade below 70.

So I could send in my 1945 quarter that someone tried to flatten/ hammer or something along the edges and it would come back MS-70 :) ? lol

eBay could make me rich (or break me with class actions)

I think they come out of the same shop thast produces the INB junk self slabbed garbage, guess when everyone starts catching on to one scam they just go to a different name and keep on selling the garbage. no laws may be broken but a lot of ethical business practices sure get thrown in a ditch.

Well, SGS slabs coins for Abon, Abon is located in Mansfield, Ohio...just down the road from Mansfield in Bellville, Ohio is SGS. Free enterprise at it's finest. It would appear on the surface that there is no conflict of interest, dig deep into both companies and you might be surprised.

    Happy Collecting

    Not in my colection.
If you buy one graded by these people you will just encourage them.
I would never buy any coins from the scamer graders.
If I got one somehow I would get my big bolt cutters and
make it a raw coin .

Here's a few numbers for comparison that I just looked up on NGCs population reports.
Jefferson Nickels they have graded: 88414
Jefferson Nickels they have graded MS70: 1

    It was a 2005 P Bison.

Dropping to the lowly MS69 grade they have assigned that to 686 coins.

We have sold to Abon at work. Last time was silver eagles when they were paying more than we were retailing them at. My boss asked them if it was a problem if they were toned. Not at all.
I told the boss that was because they would be dipped and shoved into MS70 slabs.

I got the pleasure of picking the coins for them and unloaded a lot of junk at work that day believe me.

I get mixed feelings at times like these as I know somewhere down the road an unsuspecting buyer is going to get ripped off with a coin that I have actually handled.
On the other hand if we don't sell to them someone else always will.
I'll give them this much. They pay very fast and that matters in the coin biz.
