http://cgi.ebay.com/1915-S-50-PANAM...47?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item20b39febe3 An unslabbed 1915-S $50 PANAMA-PACIFIC OCTAGONAL by an user with a feedback of 4. He is also in the UK.
He has 2 of these? Same picture for both. One is $80,000. Does anyone know where the pics came from? I would be leery about this eBay seller.
just answered my own question. Pictures were snagged from Heritage. Definitely looks like fraud. Anyone want to risk $80k to find out? It's guaranteed by Paypal though.
If you know where the pictures are from and everything, you should report it to eBay and include that information. There's a "Report item" link on the right-hand column. I don't know how responsive they are, but it seems like the right thing to do.
If I see a coin I know has been lifted from Heritage, I contact ha.com also. I hate this kind of seller and like to make as much trouble for them as possible. Ben
I sent an offer of $1 US on the $80,000 BIN auction. Let's see if they bite. Oh yeah, I told them if they take down the auction voluntarily, then I would refrain from reporting them.
Anyone who has some gold is aware of these coins. They are rare , and very expensive. If it had not been to at least two grader, authenticators( NGC and PCGS ) I would not do anything but admire the art work. I have seen two and they are very compelling. 1915S round and 1915S octagonal The round shows 483 struck and 645 for the octagonal. Pictures are probably from the Red Book. Pep

I believe you're right, Frank. He probably bought some Chinese fakes and thought he'd get rich. I pity the fool. Bruce
