    brotheratom Witty coin reference here

My grandma used scotch tape on my cousins dollar coin collection because she couldn't get them into the holder. So...so sad, I did what I could to save them.

If the back is still good let me know how much you want for it. It would be neat to make a piece of jewelry out of it.

I'll be keeping it to show people in the shop what improper storage can do to your coins.

The corrosion has pitted the surface, too bad. Have you tried distilled water and acetone yet?

How do they establish the rates ? Is it standard or does it vary by coin ?

Percentage of declared (within reason!) value.

    Let The Bidding Begin

Your post of acceptance precluded mine which would've also stated an interest if placed in open auction. Do we have any additional bidders? I believe it is still a nice coin regardless of the damage.

Thanks for the "heads-up" concerning Whitman folders, as I've many complete Silver coin sets stored in those folders, which haven't been viewed for decades. I knew of oxidization that can occur in even "top tier" TPG slabs, but was unaware of other degradatory effects which may have been realized by storage in holders.

When one considers the processing chemistry, Silver (and other) deterioration definitely is possible when in contact with the constituent components of holders.

Yeah, This is the end result of the removal of the pvc and the neutralization of the coin.
