Found a bank willing to sell me their bags before they get wrapped. Paid $92 for one bag, pulled a walker ('42 D) and 3 40%'s. Blanked on a box of dimes from TD.

I don't have the time to mess with you guys. The reasons I don't buy them all out is because to me that would completly take the fun out of it,my kids and wife wife always look forward to the trip to the silver bank.I think it makes sense, it is a hobby, when I can make a profit I do, that's why I have been sending them to people on this forum. Our only coin dealer only pays $1.25 per coin so that is df ruled out. As a family we already planned on getting $1.000.00 in halves tomorrow and go through them over the weekend.

I absolutley agree, but if you understood where I live you would see why I am getting so many. The average age in my little town is like 62, our population is like 6,000,from what I have been told by my bestfriend who is the bank manager is that old folks are always cashing in old coins on a weekly basis. We live right by the Baseball Hall of Fame,so during tourist season there is a ton of money poured into our little banks that nobody goes through or they just have so much that it is not worth it. The only banks we have are very small local banks, with old money in the vault. I think you have to drive 30 miles to find a major bank

    1 roll of nickles: nothing
3 rolls of dimes: complete strike out.
    3 rolls of halfs: 1 90% and 1 really nice 1976.

The '76 looks like it's been sitting in somebody's collection as it's all nice and shiny with very little wear. I'll have to slab it and get it graded.

Yep. Where in jersey are you? I'll tell you the name of the bank in a PM if you're not too close to my area.

    Box of nickels from TD yielded a roll and a half of pre-60, 1 buffalo ('29 P), 1 '97 Singapore 20 cent, 1 '83 Canadian, 1 Iceland Kronor, and 1 dime.

I went to four casinos last night and none of them would sell me halves in $500 dollar quatities. Looks like the casinos will limit you to about $100-$200 of halves at any one time. Since the casino was reluctant to sell more then $200 in halves at a time, i tried the banks this morning. I went to three Wells Fargos this morning and none of them had a full box of halves on hand. So I ordered a box from all three banks, schedualed for pick up next Wednesday or Thursday. Ill post what i find in my boxes but untill then Ill look threw these pennies I got. I had to get something so I picked up a box of pennies lol.

Went through 10 rolls of Nickels today and found a 1942-S Silver War Nickel. Very circulated but silver nickels are always a nice find and I can't remember ever finding a 42-S while roll searching before.

This is probably a really dumb question, but, I'm going to ask anyways :D Roll searching sounds like a blast, I'm just wondering if there is someplace that shows what to look for when searching? I'd love to give it a shot, but, have no idea what to look for. Thanks!

Pick up the Cherrypickers guides and keep the silver, wheat cents or anything to fill a hole. The sky is the limit keep what you want/and make a buck on and cash the rest in for more.

I got both volumes of The Cherrypickers Guide, they are great for looking for varieties, then I also look for silver coins and key dates, but mostly its just fun to search whether I find anything or not.

Got a call that both my boxes of halves I ordered at one bank came in, so went and got those. 2 40%'s and 1 2006. I have $8 in my bank account and $998.50 on my counter. Haha.

    The glories of roll searching...

Update, upon looking closer at this one it's a 1976 S part of the proof run. I'm definitely slabbing this one.

No they didn't charge me anything but they wont let me get more then a couple hundred worth at a time. It really seems to matter on the teller. I have gotten some from a casino one day and then go back the next day and they tell me I cant have any. So its day to day teller to teller. I did have my bank order me a couple boxes and one branch at my bank had a box. I picked up a box today lol yahoo. I am about to rip into once I figure out what dates i really want to look for.

Gonna wake up early, cash in my halves, then hit up a bank about 3 blocks from my work that lets you buy bags from their machine, and check it out. Really excited about it, as that first bag was pretty sweet.

They were only minted and sold through the mints' website, not minted and put out to banks. Basically only sold to collectors for a premium, so they're tough to find in rolls. Definitely not as hard as silver though.
