Is there really gold at Ft. Knox? According to Rep. Ron Paul, the answer may be "no!"

Who knows and who do we believe ? Anyone know any of the guards at Ft. Knox, maybe they can tell us for sure.

Of course Fort Knox is full of gold. How do I know? I have seen it. (It was in the James Bond movie Goldfinger. But I have been to Fort Knox and I have driven past the gold depository.)

Probably less and less by now if any.
If there is shouldn't they sell it all and pay off our debts so as to not have to pay the interest on the debt?

Wouldnt you need xray vision to see through like 6 inch thick granite walls? It hasnt been auditted in some 60 years.

Of course there's no gold in Fort Knox, it's in the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, KY. ;)

There was an audit by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in 1974, 36 years ago and the Treasury Dept. compared their auditing from 1975-81 to the previous finding no errors in deposits. Additionally, audits are performed annually on about 10% of the gold to ensure the amount and purity matches official records.

The OP should credit Fox News amongst others for his thread topic as it has been featured in the media headlines in the last day or so.

Unless they're lying, isn't there at least ten 1933 Double Eagles there?
At $7.5 each that makes at least $75 million in gold

Having only seen video clips and pics, I could not say for certain. But there is plenty spent on guarding the vault if it is empty. Of course, it really doesn't matter since the world ends on 12/21/2012 anyway. If you believe in theories.

If the gold disappeared, who do you think has it ?

That gold is so heavy sitting there in the bottom of the vault in Kentucky that it probably sank straight through to the other side of the Earth! It maybe sitting somewhere on the bottom of the Indian Ocean off the coast of western Australia. Maybe when it hit there it caused that tsunami back in '04!

The only way that I will believe that the world ends in twenty twelve is if it actually happens.

I believe they may have some 'crown gold' in there too... better take a full palette of pigments just in case.

What would it matter anyways as no monetary system is based on gold holdings anymore. If I'm not mistaken, the majority of the gold held there is foreign anyhow.

i watched the history channel special on it. it was pretty interesting how they let the reporters and such in, around the '70's(it may have been the '60's or even '50's, but that long ago). supposedly it was just to shut people up that thought we had no gold left.

they also said we have ancient artifacts and stuff like that in there. i know i seen a crown or something. they talked about it for a few minutes in the show, it was some type of jewelry or something. either way it was gold and had some type of expensive stones in it and a bunch of history.

i did a quick google search and couldn't find anything other then gold bars or coins? i never knew they made gold sacs on $25 gold rounds? interesting...
