Hi all, Well this was brought up in another post that i should do a blog bout my experiences as a Professional Numismatist at Heritage, what do you all think? would you read a blog about it?
Definitely! Clembo has a diary on another forum that is about his day to day activities (and adventures) in a coin shop. Very interesting! It would be fascinating to hear about the internal workings at a major auction house. I'm sure it would be far more interesting than "Pawn Stars".
Yes, I'd follow your blog. Funny though, the timing of this, since Heritage just announced the Auctions blog was taking a break. from heritageauctions.blogspot.com/
I would like for you to comment about another thread titled " whats going on with this Saint" You opinion on that would be a good start. Thanks.http://www.cointalk.com/t126786/
It sure looks like PVC to me, or some other type of contamination that made its way onto the coin when being graded, after it was sealed it could have started (for lack of a better word) to grow. send it back to PCGS under the guarentee.
I would be very interested, but I would caution you to first get your feet wet. I think you should be careful to consider what the boundaries you'd set for yourself (what is off limits to discuss/reveal) and then discuss it with your new employer. I think this would be a professional courtesy and would be better to get their perspective in advance rather than them finding about your blog after the fact.
So Heritage has no liability toward the buyer, as the " Damage" was not noted in the description of the lot ?
As i don't work in the auction side of it and i haven't even started yet (start at the end of September) i wouldn't know the policy. i will say that a case will probaly be made that the buyer should have examined the lot before hand
I would be interested in such a blog but check with Heritage to see what is allowed, expected ofntheir employees in this regard. We want your first year to be a good one.:thumb:
Russ, I would check with your boss before blogging anything. I know my employer would not be happy about my blogging about my job -- we even have a policy against such things -- and I suspect HA is no different. Be careful...Mike p.s. that said, I would very muck like to read about your experiences, but I don't want you to get in trouble either.
