Sell out is 15,000 total units. Previous Liberty FS coins mintage were:

    2007-- liberty jefferson----- 20,000--(P) 640.00------ 20,000--(U) 640.00-----40,000
    2008-- liberty jackson------ 7,806----(P) 915.00------ 4,754----(U) 915.00----12,560
    2008-- liberty van buren---- 7,615----(P) 865.00------ 4,334----(U) 915.00----11,949

2010 is way more expensive initially than previous Libery FS, so what makes you believe that the Mint will sell 15,000 coins vs 12,000 for the last two Liberty coins?

I admit that this particular coin has a special "charm" for me since it has a Bookkeeper on the reverse, and that is how I earned my living for many years LOL
I'll probably get one, but I'm curious what makes you believe that this FS will be "HOT"?

    Thanks

She says this about nearly every new US Mint gold coin or silver commemorative that's about to be released and because she doesn't buy them herself, only pretends to, usually expressing her desire to buy in obnoxiously larger orders than are allowed per household by the Mint. She wants everyone else to buy everything in a panic and because the mintage is small expects others to believe a sell out is imminent and will instantly be worth more than the coins retail value. And what she does have she doesn't sell, she says it all the time. Read back posts or hang around a bit and her 'sell out' song will start to repeat.

I'll order the coin, but I'm confident that if I want to I'll still be able to order another example in Summer 2011 as they'll still be available and will never sell 15,000 total.

    :)

Me? No, not a chance. If you need these coins, then you better place an order for them THE MOMENT THEY GO ON SALE... HURRY Elaine! Hurry! They might sell out... Make sure you do what you tell others to do upon new coin releases and do share with us some scans of the coins when you receive them, and before you wrap them in cellophane and burying them in some steamy hot vault. ;)

Back in 2007: "the First Spouse coins will be sold separately, for $410.95 each for standard business strikes, and $429.95 for the Proof versions."

As the saying goes" If I would have known then what I know now"

Yep, almost two for one! Today there were 618 orders between my order and the one I placed for my mom.

Let's take an informal poll of all who ordered on the first day and avoided the probable $25 price increase next week. Step up and tell us how many you ordered?

    None for me please.

    Have they sold out yet?

Yes, First Lady bought two. I heard that in 2011 the Mint will start to produce 1/4 oz FS coins to bring the price down so that they can increase the mintage.

What? 1/4 oz. FS? Got a source for that? or is that just conjecture and an attempt at levity?

Did you laugh? it does make sense, with the price of the proof coins going over $800 each. The mintage of the remaining 21 FS will continue to be lower and lower until Jackie Kennedy. JK will be a big seller if promoted properly.

I can laugh now. I figured you wanted to pull someones leg with that. :D

I'm on Facebook where the US Mint has approx. 4,300 members so far. Only 3/ 4,300 even said they like the new FS and only one said that they actually bought it. Any guesses on how LOW the sales will be in the first week?
