I havn't seen much on British coins here recently so I thought I would start up a thread to discuss and post British hammered coins. There are lots of beautiful and interesting coins from pre 1662 England, Scotland and Ireland so if you have any in your collection please post them here as I would love to see them as I am sure many others would.

Here are a couple from my collection:

An Edward IV silver groat minted in London between 1480 and 1483

And a Henry III silver penny minted in London in the latter part of the 13th century, this particular coin comes from the 'Brussels hoard' uncovered in 1908

Nice, thanks for sharing. I've started a bit of a modern British coin collection (Victoria and later; mostly staying with the pre-decimal coins but some decimal as well), but the old hammered stuff is something I'd like to expand into.

Acheron, I like the Victorians too, there are some beautiful coins produced during her reign, most people like the gothic coins but I think my favorites are the young head pennies, but only just! heres the best one ive got.

Haha, theres nothing wrong with a nice cut half, I would love to see them if you can post them. Ive got a couple myself, I dont have them photographed yet though otherwise I would post them. The Henry III pennies are actually some of my favorites, especially the voided long cross pennies with all their vaious portraits.

Stunning portrait! The relief on those coins is so low, you rarely see one so nice.
