this is the second time this has happened to me since friday, went to the same bank again and got 2 rolls of halves and both rolls were filled with all 40%. I did the same thing a couple of days ago and both rolls were packed with 40% except one coin was a 1954 Franklin.. Lucky Me. A local coin dealer keeps offering me $1.25 for each 40%

 

Don't take 1.25 for the 40%, I know I can get 2 bucks or more when I search around. Do yourself a favor Sampson, leave your name and number with the bank and ask them to call you when they get any halves in. It's likely that one person is cashing them in and could be bringing in many more. In fact, I'd be tempted to ask the tellers to pass your # along to whoever is bringing them in.

yeah but do i really want the bank teller to know that they keep handing me silver halves? getting the $1.25 kinda stinks I would love to get $2.00 but we only have one coin dealer within 4 hours of my house

Yeah, I would have to laugh in the guys face for offering 1.25 per. Ebay them or craigslist them, you should get near/at melt value easily.

But yeah, I didn't think about Ebay, you could probably get north of $2 per there, before fees and all that ish.

 

You should get minimum 4x, but more likely 4.5x face. At $1.25, he was trying to rip you off.

Funny, I JUST complained on here about not having even a 5 silver coin box in my last 30 boxes. Well, today I got two boxes. Box 1 was a shutout. Box 2, I found 6 40%ers. While not what I would consider a big find, it was nice getting north of 5 silvers in one box.

I also found a struck through and a cool die crack half in the same box....

 

I feel alot better about my local dealer's offer of 2.10/each. The best I was able sell on ebay was $54.99 shipped. When you subtract $5 ebay fees, $7 shipping and insurance, and $4 paypal fees I ended up around $1.90/per.

 

I would happily get rid of both rolls of 40% Kennedy's I have for $1.75 per coin. If anyone is interested let me know.

 

They don't have to know they're giving you silver. You are just trying to fill your whitman/dansco half dollar folder and you can never find them anywhere....hence wanting them to save them for you and/or put you in touch with someone who has them. I certainly wouldn't go in there and explain that they're handing you 45 bucks worth of silver for 10 dollars...

I just got last month 50$ per roll. That is 2.5 per coin. And silver is up since then.

Hold out for more, if you wish.

Nothing in 60$ in dimes.

Got full rolls of 2010 P & D Nickels.

 

Getting 2 boxes of Halfs and 2 boxes of nickels will post my results later in the day for the halfs

 

Just did $60 in halves and nothing.

 

Will post my results later didnt get 2 boxes of half dollars will get next week but did get 2 boxes of nickels. Found a 1960D Quarter in a Customer Wrapped roll or CWR today

 

$100 in dimes, blanked. $100 in quarters, blanked. $80 in nickels, 1 war nickel and another roll of pre-1960.
