I got in the habit of hitting 'more' after I had dumped everything just to make sure that the machine got anything that may have been left...

Wow, I feel like the warden in shawshank redemption when tim robbins calls him obtuse. Well my mistake was made when I decided to use TD Bank insted of Bank Atlantic. Lesson learned.

    Gypsy,

First, that sucks. However, you have options. I know rolling up halves is a pain after searching BWR. I've found it is easier to open a roll up and then wrap them up again before looking at the next roll. It only takes abou 10 seconds and saves you the hassle of counting them again if you want to roll them.

Second, while I roll my halves, I take all my Zincolns to the Coin Star at the local supermarket. If you choose a gift receipt you don't pay the 8.9%. I shop Amazon.com a lot so I just get one I can use there. There are many others, Lowe's, Cabela's, etc.

Beats getting screwed out of $$ at the bank, dude.

I probably should have chosen the gift certificate option sooner at the CoinStar machine. I used to think there is nothing I want from any of the available retailers & now I realize I could have bought gallons of professional grade acetone from Lowe's.
    Live and learn.

Some great finds posted. Gypsy, nice finds on all those Walkers, but sorry about the machine.

I picked up two boxes yesterday and found 4 NIFC halves and only ONE silver half. At least, the one was a 1934 Walker. :D :D

My luck lately has not been good. In my last 30 boxes, the MOST I have found is 4 in a box. I've had 15 shutouts. A total of only 30 silver coins for an average of only 1 per box for these. My overall average was at 3.88 per box but is now dropped to only 3.37. During the same time I've search about $1350 in Customer Wrapped Rolls and found only 7 40%ers.

I know I shouldn't complain because in a year a couple months I've found 961 silver halves, but this dry spell is frustrating because it seems like everyone else is getting nice finds from time to time. This is by far my longest spell of not finding at least a 5 silver coin box (then again, I had a 13 shut out in a row streak earler). I'll keep at it for now, but I could really use a nice find!!!!!

Forgot to mention, when I was cashing in my dimes and nickels today, noticed some silver halves in the bag and asked if I could buy them. They said no, because of the way the machine works and counts everything, then sends that information to their centralized system. So I'm gonna roll by with some of my leftover NIFC halves tomorrow morning before work and see if I can get them to take those in exchange.

Also gonna have ~15 banks in the area each order $1k in halves for me. Should keep me busy for a month or so.

I ordered my first box of halves on thursday can't wait for Tuesday to pick them up.
I know I have not been posting and viewing long but doesn't anyone collect quarters this way? I am working on a Washington set and thought I might use rolls to find some of the pre-65 quarters I am missing.

I know this wasn't a roll, but yesterday, out of 8 pennies in my change, 4 of them were pre-82 Lincolns and there was also a 1950 wheatie in with them.

Good luck. Hopefully you can get some decent pulls, otherwise thats a lot of work. I go through 2-3k per week most weeks and find myself questioning why I do it most weeks....if the kids didn't like it so much I would have probably stopped a while back, but then I would have missed my best box so it's a double edged sword.

    Good luck

Thanks! I'm hoping my dime luck rubs off on the halves. Got a box of nickels and dimes too, why not?

Halves; My own rejects. Did find 1 2009D.

    Dimes; 1 '64 P in low AU.

    Nickels: 1 roll Pre-60, 1 war nickel, 1 buffalo ('25P), 1 canadian, and 1 panama 5 centesimo (1983).

Not a roll find, but went cherrypicking yesterday and found a '36DDO 10c in a book at the local pawn shop, in about EF condition. Was happy to pay $4 for it.
I would LOVE to be able to go out and order that many halves. I have only been using my bank, but am thinking of going to more banks around here, I can count about 20 banks within 10 miles of my house.

I have one 90% silver, a Frankie, in my last 16 boxes of halves. :/ Only 10 40%'s in that time too.

Why do you need luck if you have 5 large to spend on coins you are 10 times up on me. I had to squeeze to order a single box of halves. Maybe I am in the wrong hobby..

Dude, I ordered $1k from 5 different banks, and I will pick 'em up $500 at a time. I feel you on people who can afford to run out and get 6 boxes of halves at one time... that makes me feel as if I'm at a severe disadvantage.

The only reason I can even afford to roll search is that my lovely girlfriend has semi-permanently loaned me $500.

So it not how much. Its planning it out so you take back the extras you don't need. What can I say I am just starting to figure this out. I will have to try that loan thing from my lady
